Karbon’s September 2026 Product Roadmap: AI, Engagements and Automated Period Close
Karbon’s September 2026 product roadmap highlights how practice management software is increasingly moving beyond task management towards more connected, AI assisted workflows.
A major focus is Karbon AI, with new capabilities for Kai being previewed ahead of its wider release. The roadmap also introduces improvements to Engagements, including bulk creation from templates, streamlined comments and @mentions, and engagement renewals. These updates are designed to reduce repetitive administration while keeping client work connected from engagement creation through to invoicing in Karbon for Clients.
Another key area is period close automation. Karbon is showcasing AI features such as document validation, a close-check AI rule builder and client questions, with further period-close functionality planned through Kai.
For accounting firms, the broader takeaway is that practice management technology is increasingly being used to connect workflows, automate routine checks and support teams with AI, rather than simply tracking work.
